WIDE WINDOW MILLSTANDS

Quad has developed a specialized wide window mill stand design for structural mills that makes it possible to roll a wide range of product shapes on a single mill. The unique design allows the guides to be pre-set off-line, using a roll carrier that eliminates the need for exchanging the whole stand. This reduces the crane lifting capacity requirements, and reduces the capital cost of having many large exchange stands. The design has also been retrofitted into existing structural mills where the entire bearing, chock and roll inventory can be reused, resulting in significant capital cost savings.

The roll carrier can be built up as a 2hi, Universal, edger or dummy stand configuration. This makes it possible to roll beams, structural shapes and flats utilizing the same motor and drive systems. Change cars allow for quick roll changes without using the overhead crane.
